Tehran-born Filipino-American Brian Tenorio is a Manila/New York-based design manager and strategic design and communications specialist. He is CEO & Founder of design firm Brian Tenorio & Company (www.btand.co), and coffee retail chain KapeTayo Coffee (www.kapetayo.com). Brian Tenorio (www.briantenorio.com) is involved in LGBT-Diversity advocacy work as the Chair and Founder of the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (www.lgbtph.org). Tenorio is also an International Consultant for Branding and Design at the Asian Development Bank and the World Health Organization (Western Pacific Regional Office), after his training with the Language and Communications Programme of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, while doing his academic research focus on‎ National Design Policy Frameworks for Developing Countries (via the Design Management Graduate Program of Pratt Institute in New York). He has 18 years of experience in Design, Development work, Innovation-work, and Entrepreneurship. He is also a Filipino Shoe Designer up until his 2008 retirement from the Philippine Fashion Industry with his designer shoe brand, Tenorio Manila (from 2005 to 2008, one of the most premium Philippine-made shoe brands in the country). Tenorio has done two TEDx talks — designer shoes and Filipino coffee. His work in graphic arts includes award-winning designs for international clients and institutions. Tenorio was the Head of Jury of the second Adobo Design Awards in 2012. He is also one of main proponents of the Design Competitiveness Act of the Republic of the Philippines in 2012. Tenorio developed and taught the Design for Development program at his alma mater, the Ateneo de Manila University in 2012. Tenorio speaks five languages: the languages of design, business, fashion & style, policy, and global development.
